Medical services provided to tourists by the public institutions of Istria County
Pursuant to contractual obligations with the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO), county medical institutions provide services to Croatian and foreign tourists on the territory of Istria County. If emergency medical service is required, tourists are entitled to health care under the same conditions as Croatian insurance holders, provided they have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Croatian tourists are entitled to health care based on the valid HZZO card. The text below provides information on the conditions and ways of achieving health care for tourists.

Medical clinics at branch offices of the Istria County Institute of Emergency Medicine provide health care to all emergency patients 24 hours a day, as well as non-emergency patients with acute symptoms outside working hours of tourist medical clinic .
